** PERMANATELY CLOSED ** If you are like us, you've been on the edge of your seat waiting for Steam Dumpling to re-open. Sorry folks, it's officially closed. It's now called Chef Sun's Noodle and Dumplings and the menu is very similar. There is a Yelp page for Chef Sun's. Inside gossip told me that the prior owners were offered top dollar for their popular restaurant (Steam Dumpling) and they decided to sell it and relocate.

When you first walk in you have to write your own name on the list, don't wait for anyone to do it for you... just fyi. Everyone there was very nice & helpful. We ordered: Cucumber Salad (9/10) - only because I didn't know they put cilantro on this otherwise it was amazing and I would order it without cilantro next time. Sesame Ball (8 Pieces) (7/10) - was good but I've had better at the Mr. Dumpling that is inside of Hmart in Carrollton. Honey Walnut Shrimp (10/10) - it is not walnut though they add candied pecans still very good and the shrimp themselves were large in portion and worth the price/flavor was really good and complimented the other dishes altogether. Wide Hand-Pulled Noodle (1000/10) - The absolute show of this restaurant is this dish, hands down the best noodles I have ever had, the flavor is outstanding and packed. Although there are few ingredients to this dish it just hits home. Wonton With Chili Oil (8 Pieces) (6/10) - The Wonton Chili was better at fortune house and probably wouldn't go back for these. (Pan Fried) Pork Dumplings (10Pcs) (5/10) - These look great online but they were not tasty and lacked flavor as well as freshness. Xiao Long Bao (10 Pieces) (5/10) - Same thing for these, I've had better at Fortune House & Mr. Dumpling they were not good in flavor, taste, etc. The only thing that helped with the dishes that were not good was the chili flake oil they have on every table.

Love the dumplings there. All their dumplings are made in house and very fresh! Hand pulled noodles are good as well. Forgot to take picture because food so good it makes you forgetful. Will definitely return. Service was awful.

The dumplings are worth the hour's drive! The price point is reasonable, service is great! We will try the hand-pulled noodles next time. You can tell a lot by the vinegar and the chili oil, and boy the food didn't need the vinegar or oil but it adds a little fun!

Another solid choice for soup dumplings in Plano! They're more of a fast, casual style Chinese restaurant, which meant the service was super quick! All the food came out in less than 5min. The soup dumplings were above average for sure, very worth it at this price point. We also loved the beef roll pancake (note theirs come with lots of cilantro). Also must try the hand-pulled noodles, super chewy and tasty. The chili oil wonton was ok, definitely could use more garlic. The salt & pepper shrimp was only ok as well, could be more crispy. Overall this is a solid spot for fast, casual Chinese food. Give it a try if you can!

We came for a Friday lunch and the place was BUSTLING. Service was quick and efficient, and we were immediately seated. They have many workers making dumplings by hand, you can't help but being impressed. Inside was simple and clean. Food we ordered: - String beans. I know, why would one orders this dish at a dumpling restaurant? In my defense, this is one of my favorite vegetables so I am always on the look out for the best one. Their string bean was flash fried and flavorful! It has onions and salty (pickled?) black beans inside. I'm sure you can ask them to hold the black beans if you want to. - Hand pulled wide noodles. Thick and chewy, this noodle dish comes with garlic, oil, pepper flakes, and a few pieces of bokchoy. We thought it would come with meat or some kind of protein, but nope that was it. - Xlb. I didn't personally try it, but husband said it was good and juicy. Overall, it's a solid place for noodles and dumplings in Plano. We will be back.

I recently tried Steam Dumpling in Plano and LOVED it! We ordered the Beef Roll Pancake (牛肉卷饼), the 10 pc Xiao Long Bao (小笼包), and the Dan Dan Noodle (担担面). Everything was fantastic. I particularly recommend the Beef Roll Pancake. The outer scallion pancake layer was flaky and crispy, but also chewy. The texture was absolutely perfect in ways I can't describe. I also loved the amount of cilantro in the dish; it paired perfectly with the savory meat and pancake. I could not stop eating this with their chili oil and vinegar. I also really enjoyed the Xiao Long Bao; these soup dumplings were piping hot, filled with delicious broth, and soo flavorful. I found the broth to be on the slightly sweeter side compared to other soup dumplings I have tried (which I enjoyed). Highly recommend coming to this place; I will be back!

We went to have lunch here. Busy during weekday lunch. Lots of local customers. We ordered Scallion pancakes, Wonton noodle soup and steamed Lamb dumplings. They all tasted good. Serving staff were friendly and helpful. Well lighted and uniquely decorated restaurant.

Great food and service! My family and I really enjoyed all the options here. Food came out rather quick and we were very happy with the appetizer portions. The dumplings were flavorful and each vegetable / meat dish comes with a side of rice that's shareable between 2 people. I appreciate all the sauces available at every table - soy sauce, hot chili oil, black vinegar, chef's kiss to the spicy sauces! My family and I arrived before 5pm and beat the dinner rush, but larger parties arriving after 7 had a decent wait - so make sure you avoid the crowd because it definitely gets crowded!
